What is XCheck? XCheck (eXtended
Checker) is a tool to analyze logfiles and to observe your system. This tool is
usable on Windows (NT/2000/XP) and UNIX (AIX/LINUX) platforms. The status of
Progress databases, Webspeed brokers and webservers can be checked. It can
verify that your Progress nameserver is up and running. The free space in
operating system directories or in Progress databases can be controlled. The
user/admin can be notified by e-mail or http. What can be
checked by XC:
- Progress V9.1 Databases
- database is
active? - enough free space in the database? (Multi volume database) -
logfile of the database is scanned for keywords like Error,
Invalid, etc.
- WebSpeed Broker V3.1
- broker is active?
- logfiles of the broker are scanned for keywords like Error,
Invalid, etc.
- Progress Nameserver
- nameserver is
active?
- System drive directories
- is there enough
free space on the drive? If not, XC generates a warning. If the free space
is less then 30% of the given size, XC generates an error.
- HTTP request
- XC checks if a webserver is
still alive.
- Different types of logfiles
- logfiles of a
self defined standard from IAP GmbH. (Each line starts with an keyword like
Info:, Warning:, Error:, etc. - XC can check the exact
size of a logfile. - XC checks, if something has changed in the logfile in
the last x minutes. - you could define your own logfile types. This
means, that you can define keywords on which XC generates warnings or
errors.
